PostHeaderIcon Would you rather learn how to play the piano or guitar?

I’m a 14 year old girl.
I was thinking of maybe starting to play either the piano or guitar.
When I was little I played the piano and the guitar, but not for a very long time. (I found it hard because I had short fingers.. haha)
My little brother plays guitar.

I was just wondering, would you rather learn how to play the piano or guitar? And why?

Thanks :)

The piano. my gf plays the piano, i think its the sweetest thing ever. it sounds amazing :P the acoustic does on a guitar too.. but too many posers.

PostHeaderIcon what is the best way to learn guitar..and eventually mastering electric (and joining a band)?

On your own?
a class?
instructor?
what is the fastest way?
i’m 17 yrs old; music is one of my passions, i did about a total of 4 years of studying piano, and i can still play and one of my dreams and goals is to join a heavy metal rock band
how are guitar and piano related, if at all?

any personal experiences you could share?
thanx[=
my dad says it is better starting with acoustic then electric will come easier, but if my goal is to play metallica, pearl jam, GNR, led zeppelin..that type of music- would you advise me to start electric

On your own?
Don't! From my personal experience, I thought it'd be a good idea to learn on my own, and I ended up learning differently, and I can't do certain things because I'm used to the way I learned.

A class?
Would be decent, but a class...The teacher isn't going to always help you out, he/she will concentrate on just the general people, not specific.

Instructor?
The best choice would be an instructor/tutor, and I've improved a lot over 3 month with a tutor.

I'm not really musically talented, I'm a weird person when it comes to music, I can play well, but I'm not that talented.
I don't play Piano, but if you're experienced with Piano, you'll have an easier path learning guitar.

Tips:
Get a tutor [Best choice]

Learning Music is a test of Patience [Trust me; I've spent over an hour every day learning a guitar technique, doing the same thing over and over again]

Learning Guitar [Always learn the proper way, and don't try to find a way around it, or you'll have to go through a lot of wasteful time re learning it the proper way]

All in all, good luck!

PostHeaderIcon Should I be noticing a fairly large improvement in my guitar playing?

I’ve been playing guitar for just over a year now, and as of late I haven’t felt like i’ve been improving much at all. Is this normal for around this time?

It’s not. After a year, I started soloing seriously, learned how to play all important chords without struggling, and I was able to play some pretty hard songs. After a year and a half, I had the first gig.
But I practiced 4 or more hours a day.
Advice: Practice, practice and only practice.
