PostHeaderIcon I want to learn to play guitar, where do I start?

Alright, so I already have a guitar, but I’ve never actually learned how to play it. I want to teach myself. Any links to website tutorials and stuff would be perfect. Thanks.

I have started giving free online guitar lessons at http://www.youtube.com/user/UKGuitarGirl. They are very simple and short, and will have you playing in no time! I’m going to put a new one up every Friday.

Once you know how to read chord diagrams (as I show in my first lesson) you can look up any chord diagram you like and you’ll be able to work out how to play the chord.

Then, once you can read guitar tab, which I will cover in a few weeks, you can go onto websites like http://www.ultimate-guitar.com and play songs by your favourite bands and artists.

PostHeaderIcon How do i learn to play songs with guitar word for word?

how do i learn to play songs word for word?

okey…

you want to play an instument, be warned. Its hard. but its the best thing you can do.

get a teacher, and the instrument you want. And practice everyday.

anything you do eight hours a day, you have to be good at it. Eddy Van Halen said that.

PostHeaderIcon How can i learn how to play my guitar and sing at the same time?

Well im trying to sing while i play my guitar but i can’t for some reason,IM good at the guitar but everytime i try to sing,I cant play my guitar right,Somebody help me please

If you’re good at guitar and are having trouble singing, the problem is in your right hand and strumming I’m betting.

Guitar needs to be second nature before you introduce vocals. You’re singing a new word much more often than you’re playing a new chord, so more brain power needs to be devoted to your voice. Chords should be second nature already if you’re good at guitar, so that leaves your right hand.

Pretend you’re playing the shaker to a song. You’ll be playing 16th notes most of the time. Better yet, buy a shaker and sing to a song as you shake. Now, do the same motion in strumming. Keep your hand in a steady motion to where it’s on auto-pilot and you don’t have to think about it. Try this technique for a week, and I’ll bet you’ll be singing and playing by the end of it.

PostHeaderIcon Want to learn play guitar?

I REALLY wanna play guitar. But I heard its hard to learn.
How do u learn play guitar? How much:P ? Any starting tips?
Can i teach myself?
All ur answers would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!

If u wanna Learn How To Play Guitar, u must have a strong will and persistance first!
Second, it’s much better for u to have a teacher guiding u. Of course, it consumes
money and time. But u can get an ebook with video lessons. Among those tutorials,
jamorama course has a serial lessons ranging from beginner, mid-level, high-level,
rock, blue etc. It will show u how to play guitar by pictures and videos. If u keep
learning from jamorama, playing guitar will not be ur dream any more:)

PostHeaderIcon How can I learn to play acoustic guitar in a professional way?

I’m learning how to play acoustic guitar on youtube now. But my mom said if I wanna Learn How To Play Guitar, I have to find some tutorial that teaches me step by step in series. What do u think? Where to find serial lessons?

There are lots of great websites and youtube videos for learning guitar. But u have to stay away from those videos, for they can not teach u from the beginning to the end. While some have value, a lot of those really don’t have much substance. If a guitar book with video lessons is supposed to be helpful for u, such as jamorama. It teachers learners according to their levels, offering pictures and videos and explaining very clearly. U can have a look at of it. Good luck!

PostHeaderIcon I’m looking to learn how to play guitar. Are there any good dvds to help teach me how/what i need to play?

i want to play acoustic guitar. I have never played before. Im looking for a set of dvds that are really user friendly that can teach me how to play guitar..and help me know what i need to start out with.

guitarjamz.com. look marty schwartz up on youtube. he is the best guitar teacher for beginners that i have ever seen. look through his videos and u will b a guitar genius, even if u dont want to b a genius at guitar, you also get really skilled too, and he isnt boring like a lot of good teaching teachers. been a fan of him for a year now and iv been playing for a year too, and now, thanks to him, I can play Eruption by Eddie Van Halen. He is an awesome rocker. hes got 3 channels on youtube:martyfs and some numbers, guitarjamzdotcom, and youcanlearnguitar. youcanlearnguitar is his more teaching channel. guitarjamzdotcom is his song-teaching channel, and martyfs is his personal one.

If your looking for some gear, look up Garagebandandbeyond as his username, and he is also a great teacher, and a friend of martys.

PostHeaderIcon Guitar? Can i still learn how to play guitar?

Hi.. I just wanna ask if i could still be a professional guitarist? I’m already, f, 18 years old, when i was 15 i had a little background how to play guitar, but i stopped for almost 2 years now. And i wanna know if i could still be good? I forgot everything I’ve learn before. A lot of people are saying that I cant be very good anymore because of my age. I hope that’s not true, because i really want to be good in playing guitar. especially acoustic songs.

Read the response given by OnTheRock another time. Reality hurts, but it is life. Don’t expect to become a super heroine at the guitar simply because you intend to play some acoustic songs. To become proficient at any instrument requires strong dedication and incentive to progress in all the fields of music, including music theory.

It’s not too late at age 18 to restructure your goals and work at them, especially if you have reached a level of maturity and understand why you quit the first time.

PostHeaderIcon what age did alex gaskarth from all time low learn to play guitar?

He supposedly already knew how to play guitar when he was in eight grade. Both his parents were musicians so I bet he knew how to play well by around 10 years of age.

"The guitarist Jack Barakat of All Time Low initially invited Gaskarth to form a band playing Blink-182 songs in eighth grade, along with their original drummer. Barakat told Alternative Press that they were not friends at the time (in 2003), since Gaskarth had just transferred from a private school and that Gaskarth had "hated" Blink-182 because he was the "Bob Marley and Incubus kind of kid." Eventually Barakat persuaded Gaskarth to listen to the band’s live album, The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back!), and they started the band covering Blink-182 songs.[3]"

PostHeaderIcon How long did it take you to learn to play guitar?

I Got a rad accoustic electric guitar today from my grandpa as a hanukah gift. im confused by the chord chart im wicked blonde. i was curious of how long it took others to learn guitar so i can get an estimate fer how long itll take me.
Fun poll: whats your favorite song to play 0.o

Anyone can play guitar when they first pick it up, though you might not be able to play it well. Every guitar player learns to play more every day, it just depends how devoted you are to get to a level you consider good. I wake up at 5 or 6 every day and practice for usually about 5 hours, just because I always see room for improvement. Every day I find a new technique or a new riff or something. Its not like you learn how to play and then you’re just at that level forever. If you wanna be Johnny Ramone, learn the power chord and hit it really fast lol. If you wanna be Steve Vai, play for about a year and see what happens. Anyone who says its hard thinks they’re more important than they really are.
