Can you actually learn how to play guitar from a video and instructional book?
Or is it better to pay for guitar lessons? Or both? I just bought a guitar and really want to learn.
If you start out by teaching yourself with videos and books, you’ll learn some useful stuff like where some notes are and how to play a few chords. What will also almost definitely happen is that your technique will be garbage while you learn, and that can take a long time to fix as old habits die hard. Get some lessons from a good teacher before you do anything, then you can go on to learn from other materials afterward.
Ok, i know how to play the guitar, and i want to learn how to play the piano, are they anything alike at all?
Does knowing how to play the guitar give me an advantage at all ?
no
How can I learn how to play guitar faster?
I join a training class for guitar. I found my guitar teacher teaches so slowly.
So I wanna teach myself. It would be faster and save me lots of money. Can anyone give me some advice???
There are lots of great websites and youtube videos for learning guitar. But u have to stay away from those videos, for they can not teach u from the beginning to the
end. While some have value, a lot of those really don’t have much substance. If a
guitar book with video lessons is supposed to be helpful for u, such as jamorama.
It teachers learners according to their levels, offering pictures and videos and
explaining very clearly. U can have a look at of it. Good luck!
How long will it take to learn guitar?
I am an accomplished pianist (playing and taking lessons for 12 years). I’ve taught myself cello but haven’t gotten over the beginner level for the last six years. I sing a lot, especially while I play piano. I know my notes and piano chords and advanced music theory.
I don’t have a lot of time on my hands but I’m wondering if I could learn how to play and sing one song in four months.
Also, can I start on a half-size toy guitar?
Could you learn to play and sing one song in 4 months? Possibly. Depends on the difficulty of the song and on your own musical aptitude, manual dexterity, and willingness to work at it.
You say you’ve taught yourself cello, but "haven’t gotten over the beginner level for the last six years", that doesn’t bode well for your ability to teach yourself guitar quickly, however, especially if you don’t have a lot of time to practice.
Can you start on a half-size toy guitar? If that’s all you’ve got, I guess you can. It will undoubtedly sound like crap and probably be impossible to get or keep in tune, but if you don’t care about that I guess you can manage. I know guys with big beefy hands who play mandolin and fiddle beautifully — if they can get around on those itty-bitty little fingerboards with speed and accuracy with their thick fingers, you should be able to manage the fretboard on a half-size guitar.
Is it hard to learn to play Guitar?
I can read music(I play flute and some piano). I am fully aware those 2 instruments are nothing like guitar, but I have some experience with music. I am talking about electric guitar, like ozzy tracks, or linkin park. Not that this makes a big difference, but my little brother has Guitar Hero, and I can do everything on expert very well. I just want to know if I should try to Learn How To Play Guitar.
It’s probably one of the easiest instruments to learn quickly if you just learn to read tab and you should be able to play some easy rock songs within a month or two. It is, however, extremely difficult to play progressive metal, mathcore, etc. and will take many years to be able to play some of the more difficult genres.
Learning to read music with guitar is a bit more difficult than piano because it is a three-dimensional instrument and many of the same notes are scattered around the neck, rather than just having a single line of keys that all play different notes. Tab is much easier and if you ever want to learn a song you can look it up on ultimate-guitar.com and there is probably a tab of nearly any song.
Being able to play Guitar Hero probably won’t really help you play guitar. The only thing I could see it doing is improving coordination.
Also, you don’t have to, but I would recommend starting off with an acoustic. Acoustics are overall harder to play and harder to get a clean sound out of playing quickly, but it makes it much easier making a transition to electric guitars. Steel string acoustics also build calluces quicker which will make it easier to play.

How can I learn to play guitar or drums?
Can I teach my self or what tips n help please? I just wanna Learn How To Play Guitar or drums so help thanks:)
you gotta have natural rythym first of all , or you’ll just get bored and put it down,, be it drums or giutar, i’m self taught and just learned by practicing and by watching others, basically copying and having a natural ear for music,, it came naturally to me, but !, lol, i never learned how to read it from sheet music, that’s the only part of music i didn’t do, i still can though. just like learning another language. exept it’s universal, music is understood by the whole world.
best to go with what comes easiest, not both at the same time. drums can be costly, unless someone lets you borrow them,, you can buy a cheap acoustic giutar for around 50 dollars, to learn on,, all starts with learning how too tune it up first. it’s fun. go for it !
