There are quite a variety of guitars, you have classical guitar, acoustic guitar, semi-acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and actually just like a normal guitar but it is held in a different way, it's called the right-guitar because you press the strings with your right hand and pluck the strings with your left hand instead of your right.
References :
diff between bass and electric is bass is deeper and usually has few strings. Generally 4 on a bass and 6 on an electric guitar

You strum a guitar or pluck/strum an acoustic.

[[P.S. if u are going to learn, learn electric first. most say learning acoustic first is better, and its the same and it kind of is, but it is a lot harder. If u learn electric, you can then learn acoustic, electric will give u the general idea, but there are diff techniques to playing acoustic. If u know how to play electric you then could learn how to play bass.]]
