At 17, is it a waste to learn acoustic guitar?
A couple of my friends were playing a guitar a few nights ago. The were covering songs and it was such a cool thing. I love music and have what seems like millions of songs memorized word for word in my head. I never thought there would be a way to express that until I saw them. I really want to learn. The only thing is they have been playing since they were kids, not starting at 17.
How long would it take a motivated person to get good enough at guitar to play songs on it? I now its one of those things that take time to learn but a lifetime to master, but how much does it take to become decent? Also, what would be the price range for a good beginner guitar?
Its never too late. But the earlier you learn, the more supple your fingers are for playing. You still got time to wear your digits down though and get some good tunes outta em!

Fuk No man! It is never too late to pick anything up. The way I look at it, the older you are when you begin something, the more serious you will take it. go for it B , music is the real way to get satisfaction

I met my boyfriend when he was 17, and I was 16. (I’ve been playing guitar since I was 9) We’re both now 18, and i’ve been teaching him guitar since nearly day one – he’s got so confident now that he’s bought his own Dean Razorback DB in black, for around £350.
It’s never too late to start learning guitar! I started at thirteen.
To start learn chords and simple melodies (I started with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star). I took two years to become okay and even write my own songs, but I took a year break because of school, and I went in and out of playing, so it would take a person extremely passionate and caring for music probably half a year to a year to be around musician level.
Go to Fender. They have beginner packs or $300-$400 which comes with: Guitar, amp, wires, set of extra strings, tuner, and I think that’s it.

It is never too late to learn an instrument. Go for it. My mom started piano lessons at age 84.
