Is "Learn & Master Guitar by Steve Krenz" worth it?
I’ve heard that this is "the best" book/dvd to learn guitar. I could get it for around $150-$200. The price seems pretty ridiculous but it does come with a money back guarantee (minus shipping) in case I don’t like it.
Is it worth it?

Lawn Gnome and Skeeter McWifebeater are right if you just want to fool around with the guitar, but if you seriously want to be a good guitar player you can’t teach yourself. You don’t know what to teach. You CAN decide which songs you want to learn the chords to, download the tabs or chord charts from the internet and spend the next twenty years learning them. If you are thinking about learning more than one style of playing and maybe learn to do your own guitar solos and more sophisticated stuff like tapping and string skipping, you will probably need lessons. Not to mention that most people are bad at holding the guitar – they need coaching in how to hold it while they’re playing and how to position the fretting hand and the picking hand.
So if you feel you could do with some lessons go find out how many hours of lessons you get from your local guitar teacher for one or two hundred bucks. It won’t be many, plus he probably doesn’t give away video lessons and books with his lessons. If you think that Learn and Master Guitar sounds like good value, then yes, I would advise you to get it. I have never heard anyone knock it. If you are still unsure, do a Google search for guitar forums and ask about the product there. But bear in mind some of the forums are actively promoting other teaching products. Good luck!

Get a guitar, sit in a room and play it for a month. If you are not any better in a month, sell the guitar and buy a harmonica.
How does anyone get to Carnegie Hall?

Listen to the gnome, you’ll learn more by yourself than some douchebag dvd. I’ve owned a few, none so expensive, but I’ll bet anything its a waste of money. Save your money and buy weed, you’ll be able to play something on guitar, you may be the only one who thinks its any good, but phuck ‘em,
