What equipment to I need to start playing the guitar? Electric Guitar as a beginner?
My friend got me the Learn & Master guitar course, so I want to put it to good use seeing how he knew I wanted to learn.
To start,
You’ll probably need an electric guitar first of all =p Get a real one, try to get them from an actual store that sells guitar. Not like walmart or radioshack or something, the wood might not be real, who knows what kind of problems will come up.
You’ll need an amp and a cord.
light, thin guitar picks are recommended if your a beginner.
Knowledge is what you’ll need the most. Find out how to read "tablature"
tablature is a way of reading music… a really simple way. If you knew how to read tablature, you could play music from almost all of your favorite bands.

yeah my sister started a couple months ago and her instructor said you only really need the guitar and an amp. you can get them pretty cheap online or pawn shops. picks aren’t completely necessary but if you want one they sometimes have a tub of free ones in music shops.

guitar, cable, amp – required. Pick, guitar strap – optional but handy.
Used can be a lot cheaper than new (I found something for 1/3 of the price of a new guitar).
If you are tight in budget, I’d recommend spending more on the amp than the guitar. Am a beginner like you and realize already that I wish I had a better amp but am happy with guitar.
References :
An electric guitar (of course),an amp (obvious), a strap, some picks, replacement strings, an output cable, and a tuner and effects pedal(s). (both optional)
