I’m looking to learn how to play guitar. Are there any good dvds to help teach me how/what i need to play?
i want to play acoustic guitar. I have never played before. Im looking for a set of dvds that are really user friendly that can teach me how to play guitar..and help me know what i need to start out with.
guitarjamz.com. look marty schwartz up on youtube. he is the best guitar teacher for beginners that i have ever seen. look through his videos and u will b a guitar genius, even if u dont want to b a genius at guitar, you also get really skilled too, and he isnt boring like a lot of good teaching teachers. been a fan of him for a year now and iv been playing for a year too, and now, thanks to him, I can play Eruption by Eddie Van Halen. He is an awesome rocker. hes got 3 channels on youtube:martyfs and some numbers, guitarjamzdotcom, and youcanlearnguitar. youcanlearnguitar is his more teaching channel. guitarjamzdotcom is his song-teaching channel, and martyfs is his personal one.
If your looking for some gear, look up Garagebandandbeyond as his username, and he is also a great teacher, and a friend of martys.

I think you are much better to buy a cd-rom and in UK it only cost me £10= US$16.30 this way you can play along with it slow the song/tune down. The one I have makes the strings light up so you can see which string you’re on etc.
Good luck!

You can get plenty of free lessons on You tube and Ultimate guitar. To start off you need…well…an acoustic guitar, picks and the ability to read guitar tablature. You can learn how to read tabs in a matter of abt half an hour or so…Next you’ll have to learn to tune your guitar into standard tuning, then learn basic chords, learn the names of notes and where those notes are on the guitar. Once you learn about notes and stuff you can tune your guitar to whatever tuning you want it to be at. Use video lessons on you tube. They have lessons on most topics there. If it bothers you to wait for the videos to buffer then i guess the lessons on ultimate guitar will do. You can always search on google for anything you might want to learn. Anything from learning how to tune your guitar and play songs to cleaning your guitar will have a lesson on the internet…The greatest instructional dvd i have used is John Petrucci’s Rock Discipline. It is simple to understand and covers most guitar topics…Good luck playing

One interesting set of DVD’s is the Esteban guitar set.
I used this when i bought my first guitar. Esteban teaches in the DVD how to play different rock songs, different Spanish songs. I think that he shows you how to play some very unique and beautiful songs.

The first guy has some really good sites, I just wanted to add howtotuneaguitar.org and all-chords.com.

Oh yeah. Look up a good guitarist, say Joe Satriani, on youtube and put "lesson" after it. Sometimes you get a really good 10 minute lesson for free that way.

I really wish you would take lessons because with DVDs and videos there is no teacher-student interaction.
